My terms of work

  • When you book me for any mahi

    You agree to:

    • pay 50% of our agreed fee up front

    • pay by the 20th of the month unless you arrange otherwise.

    When you book me for training

    Your 50% up-front payment is what confirms your training date.

    • If you reschedule within 1 year of the original date: no further charge. I just invoice the other 50% after the new date.

    • If you reschedule beyond 1 year of the original date: no refund. I treat it like a new booking.

    • If you cancel: no refund, no further charge.

    • If I cancel: we reschedule or you get a full refund.

  • To prepare and customise your training, or for writing jobs

    You're welcome to send me writing samples and internal guidance docs like style and brand guides. I will:

    • treat them confidentially

    • store them on my computer system

    • delete them if you ask me to.

    Who sees the documents

    I might show the documents to your staff during trainings. Please tell me if you don't want me to do this.

    If a security breach happens at my end

    I will:

    • tell you straight away

    • secure your information in my system as quickly as possible

    • keep communicating with you until the breach is resolved.

  • Don’t want me to use AI in the work I do for you?

    That’s fine, but please tell me before the work starts.

    Here’s what I don’t do

    I don't write stuff with AI and pretend it was my own work.

    But I do use AI tools to make:

    • your learning experiences more customised and effective

    • me quicker and better at my mahi.

    For example, I use AI to:

    • research your industry and organisation

    • create learning scenarios relevant to your world

    • help rewrite small sections of your writing samples that have no identifying information

    • augment my editing and proofreading.

  • After trainings

    I email the participants:

    • a link to my Resources webpage

    • a request for a Google review

    • an opportunity to sign up to my newsletter of writing tips.

    Don’t want me to send emails to the participants?

    That’s fine, but please tell me before the training happens.

  • If you ask about my services, I'll add you to my client list.
