You get a 50% commission, ongoing, for any referral you bring to The School of unProfessional Writing. As an example, if you refer a premium member who subscribes for 12 months at  USD $59/month:

• They click your affiliate link and buy a premium membership

• They pay USD $59 immediately and will pay USD $59 per month for 11 more months

• You will have earned USD $29.50 (50% of $59) for the first payment

• After 30 days (more on that below), you’ll get paid the USD $29.50 

• Each month they continue to pay their USD $59 monthly payment, you’ll earn another USD $29.50 (paid out 30 days after each payment)

Total money you earn after 12 months: USD$354! WAHOO!

When you sign up as an affiliate, you get your own personal affiliate link. When you promote the school across your own channels (social media, email, blog, etc.), you share that link.

When somebody clicks that link and makes a purchase, you earn a commission.

When sharing The School of unProfessional Writing, you only need to share your main affiliate URL (found in your affiliate dashboard).

• The “*****” will be your unique affiliate ID, so do not change or exclude this!👇

But, keep in mind, you DO NOT need to share a link directly to our sales page to get credit for an affiliate commission. You can use any of the other affiliate links in your dashboard to send people to resources like videos and blog posts which we’ll update regularly. If someone clicks any of those links and ultimately subscribes, you still get credit for it! 

It happens by magic! The truth is, it’s pretty technical. All you really need to know is that our unique affiliate link tells our system when someone makes a purchase after you told them about us. If you want the technical explanation, read on! When someone clicks your affiliate link, a browser cookie will be set on the device and browser they used. If they leave the UPW website and come back, as long as they use the same browser and device (and haven’t cleared their browser cookies) our affiliate link system will continue to track them as your referral.

In your affiliate dashboard! Hurray! The Overview tab is a great place to see your commissions, clicks, and sales all in one place.

When you first sign up as an affiliate, we’ll send you an email asking you to provide your personal Paypal account information. We process all commission payments through Paypal, so you’ll need an account to get paid. Should you ever need to change this information, you can do so by emailing us at school@unprofessionalwriting.com.

You earn a commission on every single payment but we hold the commission for 30 days to ensure there are no refunds or chargebacks on the payment. We make payouts to your account on Fridays in New Zealand, so once the 30-day period has elapsed for the commission you earn, you’ll be paid on the Friday after that and can track your payouts in your affiliate dashboard. Paypal should notify you when the money arrives in your account.

It’s up to you if/when you withdraw the money from Paypal to your bank account, but the process is simple and can be done within Paypal.

If someone signs up for The School of unProfessional Writing and asks for a refund within 30 days after their purchase, you won’t get a commission.

If one of your referrals cancels their subscription after 30 days from their purchase, their subscription ends and so will your monthly commission payments. Rest assured, you’ll get your full commission on every payment they make to the school.

NOPE! You can refer as many people as your heart desires!

We need our affiliates to be intimately familiar with what they’re promoting. That’s why in order to become an affiliate you first need to subscribe to the school - even if it’s only for one month. 

This way, they can speak authentically about the school experience and what they’ve got out of the school. 

What you can do is get them to purchase a 1-month subscription using your affiliate link. They can cancel after 30 days, at which time, you can return your commission to them. This means they’ve had one month of the school for half price, and are welcome to become an affiliate themselves!

Don’t worry! If someone signs up but you’re not credited as the affiliate because they wiped their cookies or made the purchase on another device, please let us know. We’ll contact them to confirm that you referred them, and happily credit you with the referral! 🤗
